Said to originate with the adoption of the new Gregorian calendar in place of the Julian calendar in 1582, April Fool's Day or All Fool's Day, was celebrated as the New Year's Day. It evolved into its present form through several centuries and has become solely associated with the fun and hilarity of Spring. Practical jokes, pranks and silliness are the order of the day!
